We’ve Got Bioswales!

Bioswales are a really important component of the landscaping at Veridian and we now have several constructed and planted with native plants! Our bioswales combine beauty and function, collecting rainwater and filtering it before it returns to the groundwater. Additional benefits include attracting birds and insects and reducing runoff to our city storm drains.

More Technical Info: What Is a Bioswale?

Bioswales are vegetated, gently sloped landscape channels designed to slow, filter, and infiltrate stormwater runoff—especially the “first flush”, which often carries pollutants from roads, roofs, and driveways. Think of them as living gutters, packed with natural materials like engineered soils, gravel, stone, and native plantings that clean water while reconnecting it to the ground—or recharging the groundwater table.
